AFTER THE FALL NEWS

COASTER FESTIVAL

Hi all!

Had a busy week last week, we were full flight into writing some new jams when we got the call we were at late addition to the Coaster Festival. So we cut the writing short and got a killer set together!

I was probably the 2nd hottest day EVER but we soldiered on and nailed our set. After we played we got to hang out and see the bronx play and Andrew tried to steal a couch...he didnt get far.

Check out the video!

TOUR TIME !

I think i have been promising a tour for almost as long as the album has taken...but for serious it is all booked and ready to go... just need to iron out a few details and we are on like donkey kong!

We can say it starts in Newcastle on the 8/10/09 and finishes in Melbourne on the 5/12/09 to give you some idea of how big it's going to be !

More details very very soon.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

If you need more convincing that you should buy our new record over the new short stack or Rob Thomas records you can pick up a copy of this months 'Rolling Stone' for a sweet review...and if your still not convinced to part with your hard earned these is another cool review by the ever honest Bronwyn Thompson in this months BLUNT mag + a sweet double page interview.

If you see anymore out there pass them on, good or bad...if it's indifferent don't bother.

Now for something completely different.

MELBOURNE SHOW WRAP UP!

Our Melbourne adventure started with a 4:30am Lobby call...by lobby i mean the cold street i live on.

Ben was twenty minutes late for the pickup which means i could have got about 19 minutes extra sleep! and at that hour...well its worth it!

Picked up the rest of the Fellas as well as J-fresh (also known as Josh from Angelas Dish) and Hit the Frog an toad for real.

We always see this sign on the Hume highway 'Best coffee on the Hume'. So this time instead of driving past we stopped in to see if in fact it was the 'Best'.

The unanimous decision was that it may very well have been the 'Best Coffee on the Hume', but was probably some of the worst coffee we have tasted.

Now thats out of our system we will never speak off it again.

Got to the show and had a 5 minute soundcheck(!) got some sweet Chinese from Mao's on Brunswick st with a Pizza chaser from Lamb and back to check out Kill Teen angst

These guys are from Perth so they already win, but i was pretty keen on checking them out after hearing some tunes on myspace. They have some pretty Rocking tunes with Beards to match, think Hot water music, small brown bike kinda vibe...the music! not the beards.

Played the show and caught up with heaps of friends we havn't seen for a long time which is always good! Then ended up at a Kebab shop at 4am. Seems we were the only ones privvy to the fact they served booze?

So to Melbourne...THANKS FOR COMING OUT!!!!!!! we really appreciate it and we will see you again for a bigger and better show SOOOOON!

More on the show front! We will be annoucning a MASSSSIVE national tour VERY soon..like within days! so stay tuned! very excited to be hitting te road for a hard slog!

RANDOMNESS...

I was going to put a clip off Killing Joke 'Love like blood' But they have a shitty record label who wont let me do it.

So you get this instead...killer track!

Peace MARK ATF

music is life

Long time no blog...

My life used to revolve around seeing bands, if i wasn't playing a show i would be on the train to Sydney checking out a show. Then as time went on and the band got more active going to see a loud rock band was the last thing i wanted to do, but recently i have been getting back into the swing of things, have seen some great shows over the last little while.

Neil Young blew my mind in Sydney, I dont really go for the 'shredder' guitar hero guy, but Neil...i could listen to him play for days. I dig alot of his acoustic stuff but for me he's electric playing is just off the hook!

I was mesmerised! I would be in the zone just watching and listening and before i knew it, it was 20 minutes later. It was like meditation...but alot louder. He said all of two words the whole show, which was cool...he didnt have to say anything, it was all their in his playing.

Whilst we we were mixing the record in Melbourne I checked out Biffy Clyro. Saw these guys in a bar in Texas years ago and hey blew my mind! was such a cool experience, so expectations were high! the were killer once again...despite them coming half way round the world to paly to a room full of Scots they put on a killer show, tight and energetic.

Back when we first started getting shows in Sydney i think it's safe to say collectively Hot Water Music were a big influence on our band, particularly the album 'a flight and a crash'. I remember when we were recording our first E.P and playing to the engineer as an indication of what i wanted us to sound like...subsequently i think we fell rather short of that mark...anyways Chuck Ragan used to sing/still does sing in HWM and he was recently out here with Tom Gabel from against me doing Solo Acoustic shows. I think i had it in my mind that Tom was going to steal the night...how i was WRONG...CHUCK...fuck man...

I was so tired i didn't even really want to go to the show but i had tickets so off we trek longneck in hand. The prospect of a couple of dudes singing over acoustic guitars wasn't really getting my blood pumping but as soon as i got a posse Chuck HAD me! This was the real deal, He's voice was so powerful and intense. So much heart so much soul. Never would i have thought a dude and a guitar could be so captivating! Anyways Tom came on and he was good but man it must be hard going on after what came before.

Most recently i saw Bertie Blackman. I had Downloaded her single 'Heart' of itunes as it was free. Thing is i didn't even listen to it for about a month and then i heard it on the radio and im like 'I know this song...what is it...man its so good!' then it clciked! that's the song i downloaded a while back. Now 'Heart' is on CONSTANT roatation! When i heard about the show i got some tickets (lucky! as it sold out in advance) and went along I got there a little late due to some unforseen circumstances and i think Bertie may have been on the first or second song? My first though was  'nice sleeves' as in napoleon dynamite...she had a killer set on!

But the show was great, i really Dug the jams off her new album, lots of cool percussive and electronic elements, lots off cool grooves and energy.

And the venue is Rad too...cant wait to play it in July!

I guess the point off all this is one of the best ways to experience music is to just get out there and go to a show. Take a chance on something new. It invigorates and inspires! Music is LIFE.

as you were.
